My magazine represents the key social group through a range of different techniques one of which is the use of my magazine masthead ‘Each little step…’ the denotation, the connotation of the name imitating the growth of a child within the growth of the school. I also use a range of images which relate to the primary audience (children from Oxhey primary school) my main picture was of a four year old female student sitting at a desk colouring in smiling at the camera this made the magazine more enticing for both the primary audience (students of the school) and the secondary audience (parents and the local community) as this enables the audience to know what the magazine is About and makes it more welcoming to people who may wish to read the magazine as the nurturing image is linked with the nurturing title. On the front cover and the contents page I used the same background image these were foot prints and handprints in pink, blue and yellow which remain in keeping with the overall theme by doing this it results in less confusion for the children and makes it also more consistent for both them and the secondary audience this helps them to psychologically link things from the front cover to the contents page without having to reanalyse. Throughout this preliminary task I have learnt how to use fireworks in order to construct my work in a more professional way suitable for wider media this program helps me to adapt my images, texts and backgrounds so that the audience also develop clearer semiotic views of the masthead etc. Looking back at the progression of ‘Each little step…’ I have learnt that depending on the genre of your magazine the layout is different this has a large effect on the audience when this is done properly this allows the audience to know what income classification the magazine is suitable for and also how to create a more interesting layout to obtain the attention of the younger generation. Overall I feel that this task has helped me to understand what is needed to make my music magazine as successful as possible and obtain the best results I have also learnt from planning my school magazine that its best to come everything simple to start and adapt it with the flow of the rest of your magazine
